A cherry-blossom branch in soft focus against a pale spring sky

Sakura kissa & roastery花雲 · 喫茶Amman — Est. 2019

A tea house in a cloud of blossom. Slow coffee, stone-ground matcha and seasonal sweets, served the way spring arrives: gently, and all at once.

(01) Philosophy 一期一会

Our philosophy

A cherry blossom lives for about a week. We built a café around that week: ichigo ichie, one time, one meeting. Every cup is brewed for the person in front of us and never quite repeated. So slow down. Let the kettle sing. Watch a petal take its time to land.

(02) The Ritual 作法

Five moments, one visit

A red bridge and torii gate framed by cherry blossom

01 · Arrive 到着

Leave the street at the gate

Shoes off if you like, a warm towel, a glass of barley tea. The city stays on the other side of the noren curtain.

Hands sifting bright green matcha powder into a dark cup

02 · Choose 選ぶ

Pick a leaf, a bean, a bowl

Smell the week’s beans and matcha before you order. Then choose your cup from our shelf of handmade chawan.

03 · Pour 淹れる

Brewed at your table

Water at 92 °C, poured in slow spirals. Four minutes you can watch, smell and hear.

Hot water poured from a kettle into small cups, steam rising

04 · Wait 待つ

The pause is the point

No laptops at the window bar. Just the garden, the steam, and petals drifting past the glass.

Three small Japanese sweets and a wooden pick on a black lacquer tray

05 · Savor 味わう

Something sweet, something seasonal

A wagashi shaped for this exact week of the year, to balance the bitterness in the bowl.

Thursdays 19:00 – 00:00

Yozakura evenings

Once a week the garden lanterns come on and the bar turns to hojicha lattes, warm sake-lees cakes and slow jazz under the trees. Blossom viewing, after dark.

(05) The Space 空間

Cedar, paper, light

A 1950s stone house on the hill, rebuilt with a Kyoto carpenter: a curved cedar bar, washi screens that soften the Amman sun, and a courtyard garden of seven cherry trees that bloom each March.

Twenty-two seats. A tatami room for four. A window bar that looks straight into the branches.
